Can I just say...

...that day shift sucks? The last time I worked days was December 1996, and it was more 8-4/9-5 ish..........I missed the joint though, and the people. I love geriatric nursing.

Originally when I went in to talk to the director of nursing I said that in a perfect world, she would have some sort of 4 hour (maybe treatment nurse) shift for me, that way I wouldn't need any daycare. She mulled that over, and a few days later talked to me about working from 7-10 am to help with the morning med pass. Whoo Hoo! I have 2 of my six days of orientation in now. After those 6 days are up, I pull a trial run of the 7-10 am deal. It's on the "QT" right now, so that nobody gets their panties in a twist because I walked in a snagged a cake mini shift. After the two weeks are up, they will decide if they want to keep it going or not. So all I have to do now is make it work for me. Even if they decide to ditch the idea, working a few days here and there of the full 8 hours won't be so bad. Things have improved since I last worked there. Four am comes way too early though.

I have tomorrow off, and I am taking Trent to the dentist for full x-rays. Last time he was in, they did partial x-rays are were disturbed by what they saw. His adult molars are coming in so crooked (and early at that...), that they are pushing out the baby teeth and absorbing the roots of them, or something along those lines. Oy! After we are done there we need to go get some tomato cages or big ass stakes. The garden is kicking tail! The peas are all over the place, the tomatoes are getting red, hot peppers are spring up and the zucchini's are getting ready to explode. I cut the rhubarb stalks down the other day, they were taller than me! God love the cow shit compost.

Dave had a busy day today, I am so proud of him. ;) He managed to call and make an appointment for Maiya, take all three of them to the Dr.'s this morning, get them fed breakfast and lunch, get them all in the car to come to my work to get his ID badge out of the truck, and get them all to daycare on time. He rocks.....who knew? Not me. I've made him so dependent by being a control freak for so long. His free ride is over I say.

I'm glad he was able to get Maiya in today, she has an ear infection. Poor baby. She's had one dose of antibiotic so far and I think she is feeling better already. At least she is acting like she does. The biggies had such nice manners all afternoon and evening too. What an awesome day to come home to. Dave said he had to hammer down hard on Trent this morning, so that may have something to do with it. Trent is probably still in shock since Daddy is hardly ever the "hammer parent" as we call it around here...
